ANIMAL RESCUE – PET ADOPTION
|
How To Adopt a
Pet
|
 |
|
|
Congratulations!
If you are
reading this
then you have
done your
research and
made the
decision to
adopt a pet!
Good for you!
Where to start?
The best place
to begin is
making a visit
to your local
shelter, pound,
or SPCA.
I know, I know,
it's too hard
for you to go
there.
But remember,
the animals
there depend on
you to help them
start the best
rest of their
lives so take a
deep breath and
go. You
will find loving
staff and caring
people and
perhaps even
just the pet you
were looking
for. There
are different
species at
shelters and
there are young
and old and
purebred and
mixes and there
is such a
variety for you
to choose from
so this is the
best place to
begin.
Next, if after
visiting these
places you
haven’t found
the new addition
to your family,
the next stop is
to find a rescue
group.
There are
numerous around
the country and
if you ask you
local shelter
they usually
have a list of
specific pet
rescues to
direct you to.
If, however,
you’ve decided
on a purebred
dog, you can
check the
AKC.org
website.
Most of the
purebred dogs
listed not only
have information
about the breed
you are
interested in
but also a
rescue
committee.
If you are
looking for a
purebred cat,
the websites you
can start with
are
CFAinc.org
or
TICA.org.
There are
rescues for many
different
species besides
cats and dogs.
Birds, reptiles,
rabbits, rodents
and more all
have rescues
available.
If the sad
decision to
relinquish your
pet is
necessary, these
rescue groups
might also be
able to help.
Good luck with
finding your new
pet and family
member!
Thank you for
choosing to
adopt! |
